Rap mogul Diddy’s boys Christian and Quincy will turn hit BET show 106 & Park into a family affair on Friday (24Jun16). Christian will premiere two new songs on the countdown show, which will be hosted by Quincy who will also formally announce his signing to dad’s Bad Boy Entertainment/Epic Records.
Taylor Swift turned superheroine for a high Dave Grohl by saving him from complete embarrassment during a gig in front of Sir Paul McCartney.
The Foo Fighters frontman went solo for an acoustic show at the Cannes Lions festival in France on Wednesday night (22Jun16), and before launching into his band’s hit Best of You, Dave recalled the time Taylor came to his rescue at a house party.
Dave recalled being at the bash when Paul, who he deemed “the baddest motherf**ker on the planet,” decided to get on the piano for an impromptu performance. After playing a new tune for the guests, Paul looked at Dave and said, “‘Come on, Dave! Play a song!'”
The former Nirvana star began to freak out because not only did he not know how to play piano, but he didn’t feel comfortable strapping on any of the available guitars, since they were all fitted for left-handed McCartney.
On top of that, Dave admitted to being under the influence of marijuana, and as he became even more frazzled, Taylor saved him by coming up from the audience and offering to play a song.
“I was like, ‘Oh thank God! Taylor Swift is here. Like f**king Batman when you need him!’,” Dave said. “So she gets up at the piano and I thought, ‘OK, I’ll jam with her. So I pick up one of Paul’s left-handed basses, I’m super high, she starts playing, and I’m just trying to figure out how to play along with her. It was kinda like one of those nightmares where you’re running backwards.”
He continued, “She was playing this really beautiful song on the piano. I look at my wife and I’m like, ‘I know this f**king song.’ And she was f**king playing our song Best of You. As if I weren’t high enough that f**king blew me into outer space. I just lost my mind. So I felt obligated to sit next to her and duet.”
“She’s got a good voice she can sing. So I sat next to her and did this…” as Dave belted out his version of Best of You for the Cannes crowd.
Pop star Shawn Mendes has shut down reports he’s gay.
The 17-year-old singer took to Snapchat on Wednesday (22Jun16) to address comments posted under his YouTube videos, suggesting he’s homosexual.
The Canadian singer, who has been linked romantically to Becky G and Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello, wrote: “I don’t usually do this or bring up problems but I was on YouTube just watching some of my interviews and I was going down the comments and noticed a lot of people were saying I gave them a ‘gay vibe’.
“First of all, I’m not gay. Second of all, it shouldn’t made a difference if I was or if I wasn’t. The focus should be on the music and not my sexuality. Now I know 99% of you guys aren’t making assumptions like this but this is for the 1% of you that are. I just want you guys to know before you judge someone on the way they speak or act to think ‘hey, maybe I shouldn’t be judging someone’ or ‘wait it actually doesn’t even matter’.”
He added: “They can do or be or feel however they want to feel. Now I’m not frustrated because people were saying that I was gay at all, I have no problem with that cause it wouldn’t make a difference to me. I’m frustrated because in this day and age people have the audacity to write online that I’m gay as if it were a bad thing. That’s all I really have to say about that. I just wish that 1% of people would grow up. I love you guys.”
Demi Lovato has attacked her fellow Americans on Twitter, accusing them of being more interested in celebrity gossip than important global issues.
Just two days after the pop star returned to social media following a brief boycott, she let followers know exactly what she thinks of the state of America, beginning with the statement: “The world is weird”.
“I bet our country knows more about celebrities than they know about what’s happening over seas or global warming,” she ranted on Twitter. “We complain about how unfair paparazzi and tabloid rumours are but still buy the magazines to find out who’s f**king who and who wore it best.”
The 23-year-old, who recently split from longtime boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, then offered up a quirky poll to prove her point, asking her followers: “How many people can name someone on the FBI’s top 10 most wanted list?”
Demi then listed a series of multiple choice answers, including “Can name 1 or more”, and “Can name all Biebers exes (sic)”.
The Cool For the Summer singer concluded her rant by asking: “Is it our fault though? Has society fed into it or is this just easy business with everyone from blogs to magazines trying to cash in? Who’s fault is it that teens can name more celebrity feuds than wars?”
Demi’s recent social media break was prompted by vile backlash from angry Mariah Carey fans, who were defending their idol after the young star criticised her on Instagram, suggesting Ariana Grande was a better singer.
She later explained her remarks by criticising Mariah for the way she treats people.
“Mariah is a legend and is so talented but constantly disses people,” she wrote in an Instagram comment.
Jermaine Jackson’s third wife has filed for divorce.
Halima Rashid lodged the papers on Tuesday (21Jun16), citing irreconcilable differences, and listed 28 November (15) as the date of separation, according to TMZ.com.
The couple’s separation fell on the same day Rashid was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony corporal injury on a spouse following an alleged bust-up at the pair’s California home, which included claims from Jermaine that Rashid attacked him and bit his leg.
She later escaped charges after officials dropped the investigation against her because there was no evidence to prove who was the aggressor in the dispute. After the charges were dropped in January (16), TMZ reported Jackson and his wife had reconciled.
In the divorce papers, Rashid is seeking spousal support. She and Jermaine have no children together.
Michael Jackson’s older brother met Rashid while waiting in line at a Starbucks in January, 2004, and proposed that March. Just five months later, they tied the knot in Los Angeles.
Jermaine has five kids from his two previous marriages – he was wed to Alejandra Genevieve Oiaza from 1995 to 2003 and his union to his first wife, Hazel Gordy, lasted from 1973 to 1988.
News of Jermaine’s divorce comes just days after the emergence of an old police report that suggests his late sibling, Michael, had a stockpile of pornographic images stashed away at his Neverland Ranch home in Santa Barbara, California.
The documents date back to 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo’s child molestation accusations. In June 2005, Jackson, who denied the charges, was found not guilty and acquitted of 14 charges, which included four counts of molesting a minor. He died in 2009.
Since the report surfaced, Michael’s family has been quick to defend the star – and Jermaine launched into a Twitter rant on Wednesday (22Jun16), attacking the gossips behind the report.
“In death, Michael still suffers trial by media but his exoneration is enshrined in court transcripts ‘journalists’ are too lazy to read,” he wrote. “Let Michael rest in peace. Leave. Him. Alone.”
Top Gun star Kelly McGillis is recovering after coming face to face with a home intruder on Friday (17Jun16).
The actress arrived home in North Carolina to find a woman and a young girl in her kitchen.
McGillis tells TMZ the woman accused the star of stalking her on Twitter and then lunged at her, knocking her to the ground.
Kelly managed to startle the intruder by setting off her car alarm outside and she managed to escape to a neighbour’s house and call the police.
Laurence Marie Dorn was arrested and charged with burglary, larceny, stalking, assault and battery, and interfering with emergency communication.
McGillis insists she has no idea who the woman is, having never met her before.
The actress has been out of the spotlight in recent years and in 2011 she told BlogTalkRadio.com she had taken on a “real job” at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in New Jersey.
She said, “I interviewed for a job and they hired me. It makes me feel as if I’m genuinely being of service to others. I feel as if I have the potential to help others in a way that I don’t have acting.”
But she admitted her presence often freaks out patients, adding, “Some people say, ‘I’m talking to a movie star’, but I always remind them that’s not why I’m there. I have a very clear boundary about that. I’m not there to talk about my work. I’m there to talk about recovery and help them stand in their integrity and their recovery. I think it’s a great gift that I am able to do so.
“When I turned 50 and my kids were leaving home and I thought, ‘What is it that I really want to do with the rest of my life? What have I done?’ You get an opportunity to look where you have been and where you want to go when you have a big shift in your life like that. I just put it out there that I would really like to be of service in some way, shape or form and this opportunity came along and I’m really grateful it has because I’m incredibly filled every day by it.”
The reforming alcoholic who is over a decade sober, added, “The potential to heal individuals and their families is really impactful, humbling and exciting for me.”
Kate Moss’ daughter Lila appears to be the real make-up expert in the family.
The model, Rimmel make-up’s ambassador, gave a rare interview to celebrate the launch of a set of special-edition lip colours and nail gels, a 15th anniversary collection for the brand. Kate has been the brand’s muse since 2001, and also fronts the brand’s latest campaign, shot by Solve Sundsbo.
Despite her status as a style icon Kate admits she takes advice from her 13-year-old daughter, who is quite the makeup expert and even does her makeup for her.
“She knows how to curl her lashes now and she does her brow,” Kate smiled to WWD. “She tells me off for not doing it: ‘It’s about the shape of the brow’ and I’m like ‘Really?’ She tells me what to do instead of the other way round. She does my makeup sometimes, which is hilarious.”
However, Kate has generally plumped for a more low-maintenance look when it comes to beauty but after getting some tips on how to apply it, she admits she enjoys wearing more.
“I use more makeup now then I did before,” Kate revealed. “I can do eyes and makeup in general more. I do like my own lipstick as well.” The new make-up range includes lasting finish lipstick by Kate, which features six shades such as My Nude, Retro Red, Rock ‘n’ Roll Nude, Muse Red, Soho Nude and Idol Red.
Lipstick has always been one of Kate’s beauty must-haves. And like Lila, who is “obsessed with makeup”, she enjoyed wearing it from a young age. One of her first purchases was a gold lipstick she bought when she was eight to wear to a school disco.
Kate was pictured on Wednesday night (22Jun16) at a star-studded summer party at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
The model looked typically stylish in a sheer, floral maxi dress, with a leopard print bodysuit underneath. However during the interview she admitted she prefers the catwalk to the red carpet, but getting her make-up done by her “go-to girl”, makeup guru Charlotte Tilbury, helps to keep her calm before an event.
“I don’t usually have it done,” she said. “But if I am going to a red carpet, a friend, Charlotte Tilbury, does it. We just laugh and then I don’t get nervous. It is more like hanging out with my friend.”
As well as the lipstick collection, the anniversary collection includes the super gel nail polish which will be available in three hues: Guilty Pleasure, Boho-licious and Rock ‘n’ Sparkle.
Rapper Fat Joe and the widow of his protege Big Pun have settled their royalties lawsuit.
Liza Rios sued the Lean Back star in 2014, claiming he agreed to split the profits from Big Pun’s songs with her after her husband died in 2000, and revealing she hadn’t been paid a cent since 2005.
She was reportedly demanding over $1 million (GBP670,000).
According to Bossip.com, the settlement, which was reached in Manhattan Federal Court on Wednesday (22Jun16), was confidential, but an expert reportedly testified Rios was owed $2 million (GBP1.3 million).
“We are pleased with the settlement,” Rios’ lawyer Lita Rosario told the publication. “We think it was fair, and we’re pleased.”
Liam Hemsworth hates celebrity tour buses that attempt to stake out his home to give tourists a photo opportunity.
The Australian actor, who is among the stars of the upcoming Independence Day sequel, has been trying to keep his life on the down low ever since he reunited with ex-fiancee Miley Cyrus last year (15), and he could do without the daily visits from star spotters.
Fortunately, he has yet to actually see a celebrity tour bus outside his house – but he knows they’re there.
“I haven’t seen it (Los Angeles celebrity tour bus),” he tells Aussie radio host Kent Smalls. “I’ll throw stones at it if it does (come down my road). They (tour companies) know not to come down my road.”
And Liam insists he’ll never be in the awkward position his The Hunger Games co-star Josh Hutcherson once found himself in.
“He told me about one time when he was pulling up to his house and the bus was going by…,” he chuckles. “I’d just run away.”
The 26-year-old star is also throwing rocks at nosy reporters trying to dig up dirt on his rekindled romance with Miley.
Asked about the status of his love life during a recent appearance on Entertainment Tonight Liam revealed the couple is “happy” with the way things are going right now, but he has learned to keep his mouth shut in public to keep the peace at home.
“I just find it’s easier to not talk about my personal life because usually I say the wrong thing, so it ends up just complicating things more,” he confessed. “So, I feel like it’s better not to talk about it.”
